Passionate about environmental conservation and gender equality, Ssebuggwawo Karim has dedicated his career to advocating for justice and sustainability in Uganda. With a background in Social Sciences from Makerere University Kampala, Karim embarked on a journey that led him to pursue law, becoming deeply involved in environmental and social activism.

Central to Karim’s vision is his unwavering dedication to empowering children as the future stewards of environmental justice. Recognizing the pivotal role of youth in shaping the planet’s future, he champions initiatives aimed at educating, inspiring, and mobilizing young minds towards environmental conservation. Through targeted programs and policies, Karim seeks to instill responsibility and ownership in children, nurturing environmentally-conscious leaders committed to creating lasting global change.

As Founder and Team Leader at Green Companion Initiative, Karim leads a dynamic team in environmental advocacy and legal reform, with a strong focus on enhancing Uganda's environmental laws and promoting justice across social, economic, and political spheres. He is a passionate advocate for environmental justice, utilizing strategic litigation, grassroots mobilization, and policy advocacy to drive change.

As a gender activist, Karim contributes to the feminist struggle in Uganda, promoting gender equality through writing and activism. His work has been featured in publications such as New Vision, where he addresses issues like the challenges faced by mothers with disabilities in the feminist movement.

Karim is a legal expert in complex environmental and social issues, committed to supporting indigenous peoples, traditional communities, and marginalized groups. He actively cultivates partnerships and fosters a movement for environmental conservation, gender equality, and sustainability.

He holds an LLB from the Islamic University in Uganda with a major focus on environmental law and advocacy. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences from Makerere University Kampala and a Diploma in Environmental Law from the prestigious National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore, where he gained comprehensive insights into legal frameworks governing environmental protection and sustainability.
